AzzaSec is a financially motivated hacktivist group that emerged on February 28, 2024, originating from Italy. The group is distinguished by its blend of pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel and Ukraine hacktivist motivations, coupled with a clear financial agenda driven by ransomware operations and malware sales. A defining characteristic is its alliance with prominent pro-Russian hacktivist groups, including Noname057(16) and Cyber Army of Russia Reborn, to conduct joint cyberattacks. Although some reports indicate the group disbanded in August 2024 following the leak of its ransomware source code, AzzaSec was publicly attributed to claiming responsibility for significant DDoS attacks in early 2025.
