Silent Ransom Group (SRG), also known by aliases such as Luna Moth, Chatty Spider, UNC3753, and LeakedData, is a financially motivated cybercriminal organization that emerged in early 2022 following the disbandment of the Conti ransomware syndicate. The group distinguishes itself by its primary focus on data exfiltration and extortion rather than traditional ransomware encryption. SRG's tactics have evolved from callback phishing campaigns to more sophisticated vishing and, notably, unique in-person intrusions where operatives physically visit victim offices to exfiltrate data. The group is assessed with high confidence to be connected to Russia and primarily targets organizations in the United States, particularly law firms and other data-sensitive industries, leveraging the threat of public data exposure to coerce ransom payments.
